Funding means puppet fun in local library
Wood Street First is pleased to report back on one of its first round projects, which was run by the E17 Puppet Project in partnership with Waltham Forest Libraries. The project is a great example of the difference that our funding can make.
We hope this post will serve as an inspiration to local groups. It is also a timely reminder that the deadline for applications this year – 4 February – is fast approaching.
The Literacy Puppet Project ran at Wood Street Library through the Autumn term 2012, delivering 8 sessions to reception school children from Woodside Primary School. The children watched a sock puppet show, during which they were welcomed to the library, and library services were promoted in a funny and interactive way.
Then the children made their own sock puppet, received a library sticker and, for those children who didn’t have a library card, the library issued their own card. At the end of the workshop the children gave their feedback. According to the E17 Puppet Project, the feedback from children as well as from teachers has been very positive.
